The Patscherkofel skiing area with its touring opportunities is just a few minutes walk away from the Schlosshotel Igls.
Patscherkofel ski touring tips (2,246m)
Start: state road Goldbichl / Heiligwasser toboggan run (Patsch district; 1.019 m)
Stopping points: Heiligwasser (1.234 m), Patscher Alm (1.694 m), Panorama Restaurant, Patscherkofel (1.964 m), Patscherkofel-Schutzhaus (1.970 m)
Option 1 - via Heiligwasser, formerly Igler Alm
Altitude: 950 – 1,230 m
Walking time: 2 - 2 ½ or 3 - 3 ½ hrs respectively
Difficulty: intermediate
Toboggan track - Heiligwasser guest house(1,234 m) – left along the forest road (=touring route) up to the former Igler Alm (1.480 m) – tractor route to the ski piste – junction leading onto the forest road – continue to the Patscher Alm (1.694 m) – cross the ski piste and go around the edge to the drag lift – up to the forest road - Patscherkofel-Schutzhaus – right via the forest road to the peak – descend down to the skiing area via the steep ski route on the north west side.
Option 2 – via Heiligwasser, Patscher Alm and Hohe-Mahd-Alm
Altitude: 1,230 m
Walking time: 3 ½ - 4 hrs.
Difficulty: intermediate
Toboggan track - Heiligwasser guest house (1,234 m) – past the chapel – tractor road – up to the ski piste – cross the piste – go approx 80m up on the very right hand edge, along the branch of the piste up to the forest road - to the Patscher Alm (1,694 m) – to the Hohe-Mahd-Alm (1,907 m) – go right approx 150m after the last hair-pin bend into the pine forest – forest passage – forest road – at the wind fence, head in a northerly direction to the Patscherkofel (2.246 m)summit plateau - descend down to the skiing area via the steep ski route on the north west side.
